Our favourite family-friendly Halloween movies to watch together

At Popcorn Shed, we believe popcorn is about the sharing moments that matter most. Especially this Halloween! Whether you spend your Halloween with your roommates, your partner, your friends or the entire family, we're here to make this Halloween a little brighter (and ghostlier)! We’ve compiled a list of fun classic family-friendly movies. 


Halloweentown
This film may be a bit older (it's from 1998!), it's one of our favourites to watch with the kids. It's about 13-year-old Marnie who finds out she has been a witch her whole life but no one has ever told her. Now, she has to do everything to try and keep her powers. This fun, delightful and slightly spooky classic will keep you glued to the screen.
Popcorn match: Pecan Pie!


Hocus Pocus
Another older film, but yet a true classic we watch every Halloween! It's about a trio of villainous, but very funny witches who get resurrected by a teenage boy on Halloween night. The witches have a lot of trouble trying to acclimate to the 20th century, because Halloween has turned into a festive night of disguises. This results in a hilarious and very exciting battle of the boy against the witches. A must see this Halloween!
Popcorn match: Goat's Cheese!


The Nightmare Before Christmas
Even though it’s not a traditional Halloween film because it also incorporates Christmas, it’s still a Halloween classic! This film is about Jack Skellington, the king of Halloween Town. He discovers Christmas Town and becomes obsessed with celebrating the Christmas holiday. However, his attempts to bring Christmas to his home causes confusion. This musical dark fantasy is not at all like your average film as it's completely made in stop-motion, but that doesn't mean it can't make for a night of spooky scary fun!
Popcorn match: Cherry Bakewell!


Casper
This film is perfect for the whole family, even for small children! When a ghost-therapist and his young daughter move into a supposedly haunted house, they meet Casper. He's one of the ghosts who's haunting the mansion, so they're scared at first, but he then turns out to be the friendliest ghost they've ever met! However, Casper's two uncles are determined to drive all humans away. Can Casper stop them?
Popcorn match: Peanut Butter!
