How to Stay Connected With Your Loved Ones This Christmas
It’s certainly going to be a different Christmas for all of us this year - despite the fact that we’ve been granted the chance to form Christmas bubbles, there’s no denying that some of us will be having to skim back on who we see over the festive period. However, just because we’re having to avoid seeing certain loved ones this year, it doesn’t mean that we can’t still show them we’re thinking of them. In light of what’s going to be an unusual Christmas, we’ve put together some top tips on how you can stay connected to the people you love most this festive season.
Festive Care Packages
Putting together a care package for your loved one is a wonderful way to show them how much you care. In addition to a few small gifts, you can include a few extras as well, such as some festive nibbles - just FYI, we have some delicious Christmas flavours! - some self care bits such as scented candles or soaps, and maybe even a small bottle of fizz. The beauty of care packages is that you can tailor them to every individual, so you can really go for it with the personal touches.
Christmas Cards
As the years go on, many of us have stopped sending Christmas cards for a number of reasons, whether it’s for environmental reasons or purely because we don’t have the time. However, during a time when we’re all having to spend time apart, sending out some festive post can be a wonderful way to let a loved one know you’re thinking of them. Go for charity Christmas cards too and you’ll also be doing your bit for good causes at the same time. Get out the old fashioned pen and paper and share the socially distanced Christmas love!
Zoom Christmas Party
By the end of the first lockdown, we were all pretty sick of Zoom parties and quizzes, but when it comes to the festive season, we may just have to bring it back. None of us will be having the banter of the work’s Christmas party or a drink fuelled family get together, so this has to be the next best thing! Get those Christmas backgrounds on the go, throw on your novelty jumper and pop some tunes on in the background and embrace it. In particular, if you have multiple households in your family that go beyond what we’re allowed in the Christmas bubbles, this is a great way to do your annual gift exchange!
Netflix Watch Party
While this might not be something that comes to mind for your elderly relatives who can barely navigate Facebook, this can be a fab option when it comes to spending time with your friends. If you can’t have your usual festive drinks with your pals, why not throw a Netflix watch party with a Christmas film? You can download an extension for your internet browser that allows multiple people to watch Netflix, so invite your closest pals and crack open some fizz for a virtual festive movie night!
Winter Walks
This one is of course dependent on your local restrictions, but if it’s within the rules of your tier, why not meet up with a couple of loved ones for a socially distanced winter walk? Pick up a hot chocolate on the way, wrap up warm and take in the winter scenery over a good catch up!
Yes, there’s no denying that this Christmas will be a different one. However, with a little creativity, there’s still plenty of ways for us to share the love this Christmas! Stay safe and take care of each other, and here’s hoping it won’t be too long before we can get together with our loved ones!
