British film and TV releases in summer 2022

Summer is just around the corner and there is plenty to get excited about; warmer weather, trips to the beach and walks in the park are within reach. But one thing we at Popcorn Shed are also looking forward to are the new film and TV releases that are on the horizon.

Popcorn and cinema go together like fish and chips, pie and mash or cookies and cream. We love cinema and TV here at Shedquarters, which is why we’re giving you our most anticipated British films and television series that are being released in the near future.

Downton Abbey: A New Era

There’s nothing much more British than Downton Abbey, and the second film is one of the most highly anticipated of the year. The film will follow the Crawley family to the South of France where they will aim to uncover the mystery of the dowager countess' newly inherited villa. With a scheduled release date just before summer on 29th April, we don’t have long to wait. 

We recommend our cherry bakewell popcorn to accompany Downton Abbey: A New Era. What better way to watch than to tuck into a classic British flavour?

Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore

The second on our list is the third in the Fantastic Beasts series. The Secrets of Dumbledore is another film that is quintessentially British, coming from the Harry Potter universe with excellent British actors appearing in the film, including Jude Law and Eddie Redmayne - there is a CORNucopia of things to get excited about for this movie. The Secrets of Dumbledore is a recently released film, meaning you don’t even have to wait to watch it!

SAS: Rogue Heroes

SAS: Rogue Heroes is a series set to come out on the BBC this year that will show a dramatised account of how the SAS was formed during World War Two. The cast includes Connor Swindells, known for his role in Sex Education, as well as Jack O’Connell and Sofia Boutella. There is no official release date at the moment, but the show is rumoured to appear on our screens at some point this summer. 

We think our pecan pie popcorn will be the perfect snack to accompany this series.

The Crown

Okay, you might have to wait until after the summer to watch series five of The Crown, but we couldn’t leave it off our list. This series is premiering on Netflix in November and is rumoured to follow the royal family through the John Major government years, the breakdown of Diana and Prince Charles' marriage and Diana’s tragic death. The ever popular programme has also confirmed a sixth series in the future so luckily this won’t be the final instalment.
